Although the International Science Festival takes place in April, outside the normal festival season, it is often spoken about in the same breath as the all-encompassing Edinburgh Festival.

The Science Festival features exhibitions, talks and tours spread around the city, aimed at children and adults alike. The ‘Wonderama’ includes a series of interactive exhibits which has in the past included attractions such as a ‘dinosaur dig’ and ‘unwrap a mummy’.

2009 will be the 21st anniversary of the Edinburgh Science Festival, and has seen a new logo and website designed as part of the celebrations. The charity aim to make this year the biggest yet, with additional events marking The International year of Astronomy, and the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth.

The 2009 Edinburgh International Science Festival ran 4th - 18th April
